This is the first event of UWL's ARTSFEST, which showcases the creativity and coursework of final year students from the London College of Music (LCM) and the London School of Film, Media and Design (LSFMD). On the programme in venues across London between May and July are degree show exhibitions, concerts and musical theatre performances, demonstrating the talents and vision of the Class of 2024.
This year’s Advertising and Public Relations showcase theme was Quadzilla, which is all about the group’s ability to conceive of and execute on big ideas. The showcase is a student-led initiative that counts as part of the students’ final year assessment.
Final year students form an agency and manage the activities of second-year students to pull off every aspect of the event. The central London location ensured a great turnout – with over 50 guests attending, most of them creative communications professionals, including many course alumni. PR and digital communications agency Clarion Communications, a partner of the course, graciously supported the event.
This course has given me a world of opportunities,”
says Level 6 student Conor Leahy, who is Creative Director of Quadzilla.
From working on live client briefs, to planning our graduate show. The real life and practical experiences have set me up to break into the creative industries.
I have been lucky enough to work under some sensational mentors who've supported us throughout our university journey, sharing their knowledge and inspiring us with their illustrious careers. I cannot say enough about how brilliant they, and this course, really are."
Level 6 student and Social Media Lead for Quadzilla Simona Badea adds:
The lecturers supported me every step of the way. The student showcase was one of the many opportunities to go out of my comfort zone and achieve more than I thought possible.”
Kristin Brewe, Course Leader and Senior Lecturer, was very impressed with how the students managed the different aspects of the show – from creating the concept itself, to the fundraising, right through to securing a cool Mayfair location.
“It’s great to see the students able to lead and implement such ambitious projects, demonstrating they’re beyond career ready. Our industry guests were so impressed to see what the student agency was able to accomplish,”
Kristin adds.
The celebrations of the course continued when City Harvest, a former client of the course, launched a video on its LinkedIn which includes a dedicated shout-out for UWL and its marketing work with them.
