  • A welcome message from Claude Littner

Welcome to the Claude Littner Business School, I am Claude Littner and I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit our website.

This University has many attributes that make it a very attractive place for students to study and develop. A transformational £150million investment to create a brand new library, performance theatre, Students' Union space, dining and full campus facilities has recently been completed.

The Business School has a wonderful location in Brentford, west London, with great transport links to central London and close to Heathrow Airport. The 'London Golden Mile', as it is known, is headquarters to some 50 of the leading UK companies and many smaller growth companies.

We are branded as the Career University, in view of our enviable record of graduate employment – with 98% of graduates in employment or further study within six months of graduating.

We are also a 'caring' university, with personal tutors for pastoral care, a superb infrastructure of professionals and advisers to ensure a smooth passage throughout your period of study, and beyond.

So what is so special about the Claude Littner Business School?

My passion is for encouraging greater links between industry and academia. The University of West London is a 'career university', which is to say there's an emphasis on preparing students in practical ways for the world of work."

We have outstanding professors and tutors, most of whom have PhDs and are passionate about imparting knowledge in their specialist subjects, and importantly have a friendly, approachable style and an ability to balance theoretical knowledge with practical work.

The curriculum is inspired by current research and infused with case studies. It is an exciting and dynamic programme of study, with regular visits, talks and Q&A with senior managers and directors from a wide range of companies and industries who can impart knowledge and share their work experiences, current management thinking and problem solving.

There may also be opportunities to gain work experience within one of the many companies where the business school has developed close links, by way of Internships and Graduate schemes. This experience will immerse students into the issues and challenges facing companies in a fast moving, ever changing globalised world.

The end goal is to inspire students to excel and successfully complete their studies, but also to have become more rounded, confident and employable and make ambitions begin to turn into reality.

All courses are recognised by one of the following professional bodies that will increase your chances of employment:

    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
    • Chartered Management Institute (CMI)
    • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
    • Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD)
    • Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM)
    • The School is also a Centre of Excellence for the Chartered Institute of  Purchase  and Supply (CIPS).

I have spoken about the "core," I now come to the "wrapper."

It is with great personal pride that I have lent my name to the Business School. The continued success of the School has now become by mission. Happily, I am fully supported in this endeavour by the School, as well as the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Board of Governors and indeed everyone associated with the University.

Becoming a student and then an alumnus of the Claude Littner Business School will create a lifelong bond between us.

I will do my utmost to ensure that the course of study you embark upon will promote the highest standards and ethics and provide you with the best opportunity of honing your skills, developing you and preparing you for your chosen career. However, this is a two way process, and you will have to do your best to work hard, play hard, develop your knowledge base and personal values and thereby get the most out of your time here, and then as ambassadors and business leaders.

I look forward to meeting and engaging with you and wish you the very best in your course of study at the Claude Littner Business School.
