More than 30 student-led sports teams, clubs, and societies were at the Freshers’ Fair in Weston Hall at our Ealing site to showcase what they have to offer.
The Fair is so good this year. Lots of women are joining us, which is exciting because some sports can be male dominated,”
said Renee from the Climbing Society.
Lots of students want to join. Most people joining aren’t studying acting which is great because we get to share our passion and they share their experience,”
commented Abi and Sam from the Drama Society.
Lily, from the Cheerleading Society, said,
It’s so nice to encourage people to try new things. Students can come along and get all the training they need.”
UWL support services at the fair included volunteering, wellbeing, study support and careers services, sharing how they can help students reach their potential.
Also present were external partners offering some exciting opportunities and offers.
A representative from social enterprise Debate Mate said:
The students I’ve met today are passionate about making a difference. We hire students to go into schools in disadvantaged areas and teach debating. It’s a great way to develop leadership and communication skills.”
Business student Isabella commented:
The Fair has been fantastic. There are so many opportunities on offer. I’ve signed up for the women’s football team!”
