Article body
The Food Service for Health course, created by a team of nutritionists, food scientists and health psychologists, provided practical knowledge and guidance for caterers to improve the nutritional value of menus and create an environment that positively encourages healthy food choices.
Through presentations, interactive discussions and activities, the course supports chefs, culinary and operations teams, and food and beverage managers in developing their skills to enhance wellbeing through food and meet the growing demand for responsible catering. Attendees gain an Association for Nutrition (AfN) Foundational Certificate in Nutrition for Catering.
RaisingNutrition CEO Jenna Mosimann commented,
On this course we had such a great mix of enthusiastic attendees, from care home and school catering managers and chefs to public health contacts and environmental sustainability contacts, looking at how they can better integrate nutrition into their sustainability policies.
Thank you to Senior Lecturers at UWL’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism, Peter Cross and Michael Coaker, who have supported our work by enabling the use of UWL facilities and providing an amazing lunch for participants.”
Peter said,
The Food Service for Health course offered a unique chance to engage with an important, and often overlooked, area of hospitality.
The team from RaisingNutrition gave a comprehensive and interactive session providing important insight into the subject of nutrition and how we can nudge people to make healthier choices.
This collaboration not only enriches our understanding of nutrition, but also drives impactful community initiatives that promote healthy eating habits.”
