Main body

My volunteering journey started early on in my time at UWL, when Professor Paul Byrne urged me to get involved with the Volunteering Team. I signed up for a one-off gardening volunteering session.

On that first morning, I met the Volunteering Team plus another eager volunteer. As we planted, we chatted and learned all about herb garden maintenance.

One-off volunteering opportunities turned into regular commitments, each one became a chance to meet new people and share experiences with other students. I started to talk to charities, telling them I was interested in digital marketing.

At the annual Volunteering Fair, I had the chance to network. I then found myself interviewing for LEAH (Learn English at Home) over the phone in the middle of another one-off volunteering session at Hounslow FoodBox! I was selected and went for the induction in Kingston. I have met new people and had new experiences and Abby, the director of LEAH, has been a guiding force in digital marketing.

I have also done digital marketing volunteering at Boston Manor House, a historic home and museum. Amidst the history, I blended digital marketing with the beauty of the surroundings.

From working in the garden to exploring the grand manor, each step of my volunteering journey has felt like connecting dots, guiding me to where I am meant to be. I cannot wait to see what is in store for me next.
